A Master Goldsmith is a metal worker who specializes in working with gold and other precious metals. The process of becoming a Master Goldsmith has changed very little since the Middle Ages. In order to achieve master status today, craftsmen must rise through the ranks of the trade. One must attend a recognized trade school that teaches the necessary techniques. Next, one must carry out a multi-year apprenticeship alongside of a master craftsman. After completion of the apprenticeship, the Goldsmith must work at the bench for over 15 years refining the craft of goldsmithing to become a Master Goldsmith.
